XARP PMSM Closed-Loop Servo Motor with 25-Bit Encoder

XARP PMSM Closed-Loop Servo Motor with 25-Bit Encoder

XARP Closed-Loop Servo Motor with 25-Bit Encoder for CNC Automation

High-Resolution Feedback for Stable and Precise Motion Control

XARP closed-loop servo motors are designed for industrial motion-control applications where stable rotation, responsive feedback, and repeatable positioning are important.

The motor uses a 25-bit encoder to provide high-resolution rotational feedback to the control system. With 25-bit resolution, the encoder theoretically divides one revolution into 33.55 million feedback positions, providing approximately 0.00386° per encoder count before considering mechanical and system-level errors.

This high-resolution feedback architecture makes the servo motor suitable for applications requiring controlled motion, including CNC machines, automation equipment, industrial robots, positioning systems, and other precision machinery.

Designed for Closed-Loop Motion Control

Unlike an open-loop motor system, a closed-loop servo continuously uses encoder feedback to monitor motor position and motion. The controller can compare the commanded position with feedback from the encoder and make corrections when necessary.

Command → Servo Drive → Motor → Encoder Feedback → Controller → Correction

The result is a more controlled motion system for industrial automation.

25-Bit Encoder for High-Resolution Feedback

The encoder model shown in the XARP technical documentation is XEM5-T48-M25. Its specifications include:

Parameter Specification
Encoder Resolution 25-bit
Theoretical Positions / Revolution 33,554,432
Approx. Angular Resolution / Count 0.00386°
Main Supply Voltage 5 V typical
Typical Main Supply Current 110 mA
Battery Voltage 3.6 V DC
Insulation Resistance ≥50 MΩ
Related Rotation Condition 6000 rpm

The 25-bit feedback resolution provides the servo controller with a large amount of position information during rotation. For CNC and automation applications, this can be valuable when the motion system needs consistent feedback rather than relying only on commanded motor movement.

Stable High-Speed Rotation

The servo motor was also evaluated at 6000 rpm in a simple desktop running test. At this speed, the motor demonstrated stable rotation without obvious visible shaking during the observed test.

This type of practical test does not replace formal vibration, accuracy, or endurance testing. However, it provides a useful indication of the motor's stable running behavior under the tested conditions. For equipment manufacturers, stable high-speed rotation can be particularly relevant when selecting motors for:

  • CNC equipment
  • Spindle-related mechanisms
  • Automated machinery
  • Positioning systems
  • Industrial robots
  • High-speed motion applications

Suitable for CNC Machine Builders

CNC equipment requires coordinated movement, repeatable positioning, and reliable feedback between the motor and controller. A high-resolution closed-loop servo system can help machine builders develop controlled motion axes for applications such as:

  • CNC machining
  • Automatic positioning
  • Linear-axis drive systems
  • Rotary axes
  • Tool positioning
  • Automated production equipment

The motor should be selected together with the servo drive, mechanical transmission, load, and controller according to the actual machine requirements.

Designed for OEMs and System Integrators

For OEMs and system integrators, the servo motor is not an isolated component. The complete motion system normally includes:

  • Servo Motor
  • 25-Bit Encoder
  • Servo Drive
  • Motion Controller / PLC
  • Mechanical Transmission
  • Machine Load

XARP develops and supplies motion-control components for industrial automation applications, allowing integrators to evaluate the motor and control system as part of a complete machine architecture.

Typical Applications

  • CNC machines
  • CNC machining centers
  • Industrial automation equipment
  • Robot joint mechanisms
  • Rotary positioning systems
  • Automated production machinery
  • Material handling equipment
  • Precision motion systems
